Our Social Responsibility

We believe that business should be a force for good. When starting Hexagon, we always dreamed it would give us the opportunity to give back and make a positive impact. From improving the lives of our employees, giving back to the industry though our volunteering with IWFM and creating a better future through our charitable work, we have a proven track record of taking our social responsibility seriously, both for our workers and the wider community.

Hexagon Group are proud to be involved with three charities: Buddy Bag Foundation, Unite 4 Homeless and the Community Relief Foundation.

Imagine if your whole world changed in a day. Imagine having to leave everything you own and everyone you know.

48,000 children require emergency accommodation in the UK each year.

Children fleeing violent situations often have to leave home quickly, without the chance to collect basic items. These children arrive in emergency accommodation with just the clothes they are wearing.

 What is a Buddy Bag?

 A Buddy Bag is a backpack that contains all the essential items a child needs. They include toiletries, pyjamas, socks and underwear. They also include comfort items such as a book, a photo frame and a teddy bear. A Buddy Bag is something a child can call their own, no matter where they go. Buddy Bags are tailored to suit babies, children and young people according to age groups and gender.

Unite 4 Homeless offer a weekly hot meal and snack in Birmingham City Centre, where users can enjoy a hot meal, find support and sign posting, whilst picking up snacks and toiletries.

Community Relief Foundation was originally set up to offer a monthly meal and social for the elderly and lonely in the local community. Through Covid, these events were unable to take place. People have lost their jobs and source of income.

So, we diversified and created essential food boxes for families who are struggling to feed their children. As a business, we bought and sponsored the creation of 50 essential food boxes at Christmas which are distributed to families who are desperate and are unable to access other foodbanks and charities which require referrals.

In addition to our work with charitable causes,  we serve and volunteer for the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM). Nicola Lathbury is the Chair for Women in FM, a special interest group within IWFM that raises the profile Women in the FM, as well as addressing the challenges of that Women face on the sector. Women in FM also run a number of Networking events though out the year which Nikki is heavily involved in organising along with many other volunteers.

Nikki also Chairs IWFM’s Midland committee,  which organises events that promotes Facilities Management in the region, delivers CPD Training, Networking and Mentoring for FM professionals.
